It is in Castro Marim, near to the mouth of the Guadiana River where the Sapal Nature Reserve at Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo Antonio is located, the first Nature Reserve created on mainland Portugal in 1975.
Here, where the waters of the river and the sea, animals and plants of many different species meet and where mankind lives from the sea and the land is also the magical place where Sal Marim Fleur de sel is formed and collected.
This is a unique zone on the lee side of the Algarve which is of great natural beauty with a mild climate, where life takes place without haste in complete harmony with the sun and all of the other planets.
